Indeed, her design parameters spell performance with her sleek underbody, long waterline, moderate beam, high righting moment, and optimal weight distribution powerful sail plan, efficient sloop rig and spade rudder. She was designed to be easily driven with finger tip control. She was bred from racing stock and she is a thoroughbred. She fulfills her design requirements to be a fast and safe cruiser, well behaved and easily driven, yet comfortable yacht.
 
Equal to her performance requirement, is the goal of creating a very comfortable, elegant, and luxurious yacht. Without a doubt, the Outbound is elegant and appealing. When reviewed by Cruising World Magazine, Herb McCormick put it this way, "An elegant blend of sensibility and sophistication..." "for all its lush and allure and flawless finish, the interior reflects the sound philosophy of allowing form to follow function..." Schumacher and Outbound did a fantastic job of designing and building a modern spacious yacht. The semi raised salon gives the vessel a feeling of light and space. And there really is tremendous space. The most popular layout has an elegant centerline island queen berth forward with a double cabin aft on the starboard quarter with a workshop on the port quarter. The Outbound is designed to be a live aboard cruiser for a couple.

Outbound 46

The Outbound 46 is a beautiful cruiser with a customizable interior offering several choices. The forward stateroom can be configured as a very large island berth or optionally as a smaller Pullman with the head and storage forward. The salon can be configured with either a fixed table, dropleaf table or a bulkhead table that folds up against the bulkhead. The aft section of the boat also has several options for the arrangement of the aft head and chart table. Outbound passage making features include a large chain locker forward and a huge sail locker with deck access. The forward bulkhead is a water tight bulkhead. The salon settees port and starboard are excellent sea berths as is the aft cabin on the starboard quarter. The U shaped galley is a safe offshore arrangement near to the companionway to pass meals up to the cockpit. The large nav station is also near the companionway.
 
The aft head and stall shower is wonderful at sea with the shower becoming a fine wet locker. The machinery room is a dedicated space with good access. And there is also a dedicated workshop area with a work bench and storage. The cockpit is quick draining with a solid stern rail with a walk through transom and life raft storage under the helm seat. The Outbound carries 200 gallons of water and 180 gallons of fuel low and centered under the cabin sole. With solid fiberglass hand laid construction, the Outbound is well built with an encapsulated lead keel and no keel bolts. She's got the ballast low and effective to carrier sail very well, point high and fly! The Outbound 46 is a wonderful live aboard performance cruiser for a couple with occasional guests. Outbound 52

The new Outbound 52 was designed for all those real sailors who thought they'd never own a center cockpit sailing vessel.
